THE GIRL BEHIND THE STUDIO
¡Hola!
Me llamo Carina.
Travel curator, Baja local, and the girl behind Carina Travel Studio and Carina 101.
I’m originally from Guadalajara, spent ten years living in San Diego, and eventually made Baja California my home.
For more than eight years, I’ve created high-end events and personalized, all-inclusive travel experiences in this region. Today, I’m sharing what I’ve learned through Carina Travel Studio and Carina 101.

It started with a simple question.
“You speak Spanish —
can you take us to Tijuana?”
An Australian couple who regularly visited the café where I worked in San Diego asked me that question after hearing about my tourism studies and travel experiences.
The funny thing? I wasn’t familiar with Tijuana yet.
I started exploring with a friend, then planning trips for friends. After a year of getting to know the region, I began offering experiences to clients. That’s how Wine, Eat and Travel began.
More than planning a trip.
As a high-end travel curator, my work meant understanding each traveler, choosing the right places, and bringing every detail together into an experience that felt personal.
A beautiful hotel isn’t the right hotel for everyone. Timing, road access, service, and individual preferences can make all the difference.
Working with travelers and local businesses taught me how the region works — and what people need to know to make confident decisions.
Why I created Carina 101.
Exploring Italy put me back on the other side of the trip: this time, I was the traveler. Even with my professional experience, I needed a guide to understand an unfamiliar destination and make my own decisions.
I’d been the expert helping others; now I understood that need from the traveler’s side, too. What began as a curated Baja map became Carina 101.
The exploration behind every guide.
Carina Travel Studio is where I explore, research, and share the journey. Carina 101 is the practical result.
Through stories, photography, interviews, and postcards, I share discoveries before a guide takes shape. I return to places, visit without announcing myself as a travel operator, and look into costs, reservations, access, transportation, and who an experience suits.
Restaurants, hotels, and wineries cannot pay to be included in our recommendations. My purpose is to give you enough knowledge and context to make informed decisions and explore in your own way.
Where I want to go next.
After Baja Norte, I want to continue exploring Baja Sur — sharing the journey and sending postcards while gathering the knowledge for its own Carina 101 guide. Then, other destinations around the world, with the same approach.
Giving back to the places we explore.
With each Carina 101 volume, we aim to support local organizations addressing a need in that region. For Baja Norte Vol. 1, a portion of our profits will support organizations caring for street dogs in Baja California.
Let’s stay connected.
