Winter in Valle de Guadalupe has a charm that most travelers never get to see — peaceful vineyards resting for the season, misty mornings, quiet roads, warm indoor tastings, and some of the best hotel rates of the entire year.

As a woman-owned travel designer living right here in the valley, I get to experience these seasonal changes every day. I see the way the hills turn green after the rain, how the cellars fill with the smell of oak and new wine, and how couples slow down and reconnect over long wines and dinners.

If you’re thinking about visiting between November and March, this guide gives you everything you need — local knowledge, personal insights, and practical tips to help you plan the perfect winter trip.

Let’s dive in.

Check the correct weather for your exact location

Valle de Guadalupe refers to the entire wine region, but the weather varies depending on where you’re staying. If your hotel is closer to the coast, check the forecast for El Sauzal or El Tigre. If you’re staying in the center of the valley, search for Francisco Zarco or El Porvenir on your weather app for the most accurate conditions.

Coastal areas are usually cooler and windier during winter, while the central valley tends to stay a bit warmer.

Road access can change during winter — choose the right location

Some wineries, restaurants, and hotels can become difficult to reach after heavy rain, especially if the access roads are unpaved. Not all vehicles can handle muddy or damaged routes, so it’s important to be mindful of where you book your stay.

When choosing your hotel or Airbnb, make sure it’s located near a paved road with easy access. If you prefer private homes, always confirm that they have a secure and reliable entry — especially during the winter season.

To make things easier, we’ve curated a list of stays with easy access through my Expedia link. These properties are located in accesible areas, click here to access the list of stays.

And if you want a stress-free experience altogether, you can book private transportation — all our drivers know the valley’s safest and most reliable routes year-round.
